Your wedding doesn’t have to be perfect It just has to feel like you?
There’s something I’ve noticed after years of working with weddings, the celebrations I remember most aren’t necessarily the ones where every detail was perfect. They’re the ones that felt real.
The couple who couldn’t stop laughing during the ceremony. The beautiful country setting that didn’t need much decorating because it already told its own story. The little personal details that meant something to the couple. The moment everyone finally relaxed, the music started & the celebrations began. That’s what stays with you.
Your wedding is not a photoshoot
With Pinterest, Insta & Tik Tok giving us endless wedding inspiration, it’s easy to feel as though your wedding needs to look a certain way. But your wedding doesn’t need to recreate someone else’s celebration. It doesn’t need to follow every trend & it certainly doesn’t need to be perfect. It needs to feel like you.
Perhaps that’s a relaxed country celebration with long tables & shared food. Perhaps it’s an intimate gathering with your favourite people. Perhaps it’s a beautifully styled marquee, a private property or a ceremony beside a dam, or perhaps it’s something completely different. There really is no right way to get married.
Start with how you want your day to feel
Before choosing colours, flowers furniture or stationery, I encourage couples to think about something much simpler. How do you want to feel on your wedding day? relaxed, joyful, romantic, connected, fun, laid-back? Once you know that, your decisions become much easier. Your styling, timeline, music, ceremony & even the way you welcome your guests can all support that feeling. That’s when your wedding starts to feel cohesive - not because everything matches perfectly, but because everything has a purpose.
Give yourselves permission to choose what matters
You don’t have to do everything. If beautiful food matters to you, invest there. If music is important, create an atmosphere around it. If you love styling, have fun creating a space that feels like home. If spending time with your guests is your priority, build your day around that. And if there are traditions that don’t feel like you - you don’t have to include them. Your wedding is a celebration of your relationship, not a checklist of things you think you’re supposed to do.
DIY doesn’t mean doing everything yourself
I love working with couples who want to create their own wedding. DIY weddings can be incredibly personal because so much of the celebration reflects the couple’s personality, creativity & choices. But there’s a difference between creating your wedding & having to manage your wedding.
You can choose the flowers, styling, music, suppliers & details yourself while still having someone there to coordinate everything on the day. That means you get to step back, take a breath & actually experience what you’ve spent so much time creating. And that’s where I love to come in.
Make space for the moments you can’t plan
Some of the best wedding moments aren’t on the run sheet. They’re the hug from your parent before the ceremony. Your best friend making you laugh when you’re feeling nervous. Your guests seeing the reception space for the first time. The colours of the sunset you didn’t expect. The moment you look around & realise everyone you love is together.
Good planning doesn’t remove those spontaneous moments. It creates the space for them to happen.
Your day, your way
Your wedding doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s. It doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to feel like yours.
My role at Boutique Weddings WA is to help couples bring their vision together with thoughtful coordination, styling & practical support - so that they can spend less time managing the details & more time enjoying the moments. Because ultimately, your wedding isn’t about creating a perfect day. It’s about creating a day you’ll remember for all the right reasons.
Much love
